Captain Maher checked in at noon from the Coronado Islands with an incredible start to the day! So far 13 anglers have 17 Bluefin Tuna and 1 Yellowtail with fish hooked up!

The weather looks favorable at the islands all week. Tomorrow’s trip has 7 people booked, if we get 3 more it’s a definite go! It will probably be another extremely light load like we have today!

We would recommend a 30lb flyline rod, a 40-50lb yo-yo rod and a jig stick. Remember to have fresh line on your reels and a pocket full of 1/0- 2/0 circle and j hooks. We recommend the circle hooks and fluorocarbon with the Bluefin around.

Full day Coronado Islands trips will be departing seven days a week. Departures are at 5:30 AM, check-in begins at 4:45 AM. Passports are required.

Charlie and his family came out for some fun islands fishing, we started our morning anchoring up on a large school of bluefin, we quickly went 0/6 on those. A mixture of sea lions, light line and improper gear were the main issues for our casualties.

Please remember we want you to catch fish too, if you bring your own gear out and the captain/crew gives you recommendations on your outfits and rigging please listen! You may have fished your center console many times before but when I see you lose fish after fish with your overhand knots and buttoned down drag I do believe we can help you learn a few things!

Anyways at the end of the day we scratched a dozen large yellowtail for the group once we got through our morning of training!

Lots of availability in the future after this wind stops blowing this week. We will be running our reverse overnights and early departure 1.5 day trips as well as there is once again opportunity for night time bluefin!
